NOT Your Mama’s Chocolate Chip Cookies

Many years ago, when I was pregnant with my first child, an apartment neighbor and  new friend made me the most wonderful chocolate chip cookies. She called them the  “Mrs. F….’s Chocolate Chip Cookies” – believing them to be from the recipe of the  famous shopping mall cookie vendor. I don’t know that this is that famous recipe, and  I’ve made a few tweaks, but they are wonderful and addictive. My friend moved shortly  thereafter back to Chicago with homesickness for her family and we lost touch, but this  is an homage to her – thank you !!!

NOT Your Mama's Chocolate Chip Cookies

1 lb softened butter
2 c brown sugar
1 1/2 c white sugar
2 t vanilla
3 eggs
4 c flour
1 1/2 t salt
1 1/2 t baking soda
4 c chocolate chips

Cream butter and sugars until fluffy. Add vanilla and eggs. Mix flour, salt and baking  soda separately. Add dry ingredients gradually. Mix well. Fold in chocolate chips. Use an  ice cream scoop to place on ungreased cookie sheet. Bake at 350 degrees for  approximately 10 minutes. Do not overcook! Cool 5 minutes more, then remove. YUM !!!
